In addition, she is Vice President of Scott Marketing Group Inc., an organization dedicated to informing and training Family Child Care Providers in high quality care and financial stability. Her dedication to advocacy and high quality care is reflected in her deep involvement in Long Beach Childcare Network (LBCCN, www.childcarenetwork.org), where she has served since 2005 as Executive Director. Catherine holds a Site Supervisor Permit, a BA in Human Development (Specialization Early Childhood Education) from Pacific Oaks College, a Family Development Credential from Cornell University, and has completed the Program for Infant/Toddler Care (PITC) Academy. Catherine is an Immunization Specialist for Family Childcare in the City of Long Beach. Her program was designated a Los Angeles Universal Preschool site in 2010 as well as a Steps to Excellence Project pilot site. Catherine has been a Mentor Teacher since 2006, the year in which she received both the Region 9 and the National Leadership Award from the National Association of Family Child Care. In 2005-2006, Catherine served as CAEYC Family Childcare Chair. She served as the Los Angeles Representative for the California Child Development Corps and is Past President of the Greater Long Beach Lakewood Family Association. She currently serves as a Regional Representative for the California Early Childhood Mentor Caucus Steering Committee.

About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee? Catherine Scott has been a devoted Early Education Professional for over 24years. She is a resourceful, innovative, and dedicated educator with the ability to design and deliver an exciting, developmentally appropriate curriculum to the children in her program. She has an excellent ability to establish and maintain rapport with both children, parents, and other educators based on superb interpersonal and communication skills.
As a leader in the early childhood community, Catherine has organized, coached, and lead early educators, in a variety of activities and events. She has taken on leadership roles in the California Association for the Education of Young Children, National Association Family Childcare, and written grants that were funded to increase the quality of care in the field.
As an advocate, Catherine has participated in many trips to Sacramento to speak on behalf of early education in the state of California. She has also participated in many interviews, sharing her views on the importance of quality programs for young children, for publications such as Children’s Advocate, a bimonthly newsmagazine read by early care and education teachers, providers, parents and families, and advocates.
