About NomineeNominee's Organization Mission Neighborhoods, Inc. Nominators affiliation to nominee: Myself Tell us how he/she is making a difference: Each day I step into my classroom in the Bayview of San Francisco, I feel honored. It is a true privilege to be able to be the first educator that my students and their parents are exposed to. However, with this privilege comes much responsibility. It is my duty as the first teacher of my students to not only build an unshakeable foundation for their academic journey, but it is also my duty to empower the parents and guardians of my students so that they feel like they can support and advocate for the future of their child, regardless of the external injustices stand before them. With everything at stake, I act accordingly. On a daily basis, I hold my students to the highest of standards and ensure that my families have the resources and support they need. It is false to say that an early childhood educator is merely a teacher. I strive to put my students and their families on a transformational trajectory not only as a teacher, but also as an advisor, advocate, therapist, counselor, doctor, entrepreneur and friend. I am confident to say that my focus on academic development, a strong sense of self, justice, and the power of advocacy with each and every one of my 23 preschool students will create memorable leaders our nation will never forget.

About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee? I have been deeply invested since the age of 16 in motivating at-risk youth to excel academically and develop as leaders. My vision for long-term impact includes minimizing the achievement gap and thus, diminishing juvenile delinquency issues throughout the United States starting with the very first step of early childhood education.
