I would like to nominate a colleague and exceptional professional, Gayle Sumner for a BAMMY award. Gayle works in the same school district and is a remarkable resource for myself and other nurses in the district. This school nurse is always available for any questions which concern students, policies, treatments, and also community resources. Gayle is always accessible and willing to guide me with daily practices in a friendly and pleasant manner. She will interrupt her day to help anyone of the nurses in the ten schools that make up the Township of Union.
She treats her studentswith respect as well as her colleagues. Gayle encourages health promotion and independent self-care to all students who visit her Health Office. To epitomize the awards Gayle aims to recognize the collaborative nature of education, to encourage respect in and across the various domains,such as counselors,community personnel,physiciand,administration, and teachers.
