About NomineeNominees' website: http://www.edmonds.wednet.edu/Page/1075 Nominee's Organization Alderwood Early Childhood Center Nominators affiliation to nominee: My child's preschool teacher Tell us how he/she is making a difference: My third child was struggling in preschool. She was diagnosed as having a mild form of Asbergers, which made learning in a traditional preschool almost impossible. After she moved to the AECC, and met "Teacher Donna", she made huge leaps and bounds in understanding, empathizing, and relating to other students. Teacher Donna taught her how to relate socially to other children, along with routines and regular preschool learning.
Our child was only mildly disabled compared to other children at her school, but Teacher Donna loves them all!
Donna has an amazing gift with children, as an educator and their friend.

About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee? Teacher Donna is a special education preschool teacher at the Alderwood Early Childhood Center (AECC).
The primary focus of AECC is to provide educational services for children with disabilities.
Developmental Preschool classrooms provide learning experiences for all ability levels. Classroom teams focus on social/emotional development, communication, problem solving, preacademic concepts and physical development.
