Tell us how he/she is making a difference:
Nancy Kaufman is an ESL teacher at one of the most diverse elementary schools near Philadelphia. Her students come from 22 languages and from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural differences. To say she differentiates for every student, family and staff member at our school is a huge understatement. With so many cultures, Nancy keeps our entire staff and parent leadership group on their toes in understanding and engaging families where possible. She is a huge asset to our team.

Earlier this year, she became a connected educator. You can find her participating on #ptchat, #satchat, #ellchat and other areas she can share her expertise and learn from the best in the edusphere. She is a constant learner and an all around good person to have on your staff.

About the Nominee

Brief Comments - What other facts should we know? ( MAX 500 characters)
Nancy recently presented at Educon as part of a panel of connected educators and parents, sharing the ways the team uses both technology and traditional approaches like home visits to meet families where they are. She has been instrumental in strengthening the home-school relationship with the local mosque, and working with families and students to provide a better life and education for those in greatest need. She is also an avid Penn State fan and loving grandma!
