What people are saying...
“I know that all of us can agree that great teachers have an amazing power to transform the lives of children every single day. But we also know these dedicated professionals can’t do it alone. They need the support of administrators, of parents, of community leaders and of the educators and para-professionals they teach alongside of in their buildings every single day.”
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan

About the Nominee
Brief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee?
Kyle is a guy I'd love to work with someday. He is always there with a helpful connection, idea, tweet or resource. He is one of the people I suggest every new connected educator follows. He is as selfless as they come in our field and I'm proud to call him a friend. EdReform has no boundaries if he is involved in the leadership moving forward.

Josh is a connected parent & teacher. One of his best qualities is that he is always challenging the educational status quo. He is a student-centered teacher and his work ethic and dedication are second to none. One example of his dedication and tireless pursuit of excellence is how he handles his own fitness. I believe he is closing in on 500 straight days on his #runstreak - one inspiring lead learner.

He might have more followers than many pop culture celebrities, but he is 100% human, down to earth and approachable. Steven is always willing to share and participate for the betterment of education and all kids. He is a go-to for anything edtech, but don't underestimate his focus on pedagogy, best practice and teacher-led professional development. Steven has many talents, and someday I'm hoping to see him working with the DOE as the Director of Connected Teaching, Learning and Leadership connecting all students, parents and educators in a supportive role -- he's that good.

Nick Provenzano exemplifies what is great about today's teachers. He is a daily risk-taker on behalf of kids at his school and as well as schools around the world. I've learned a great deal from his generous sharing, thought-provoking ideas and friendship. Nick would be a great fit to anyone's staff if we're looking to create open learning 24/7 365. I'm appreciative of his body of work for the benefit of our field.

Tom is a connected educator matchmaker. He is constantly looking to making connection and harness his deep edtech skills for edreform. Tom is a big reason why my own school has become connected, and why schools across the country are going "connected" by default. He works really hard at what he does, and I appreciate his body of work and the genuine person he is.

Andrea is a connected educator that brings in resources to share with her students, colleagues and families. On a recent field trip, she Storified her tweets for those not on Twitter to share at home. She is aways thinking, learning and sharing.

Without Eric Sheninger's initial inspiration and ongoing connected mentoring, I am unable to put connected ideas into motion at my own school and district. He has helped me countless times with a timely tweet or an inspiring word. Eric has supported the work of hundreds of educators within the EdWeb community, and continues to raise the bar for other leaders around the country in terms of using social media in education. I have the privilege of calling Eric my friend, and I see firsthand how hard he works for his family, his school and his connected colleagues around the world.

Jimmy is one of the most self-less educators I know. He is always there with a resource and an inspiring word. I don't have the pleasure to work within his immediate learning community, but I cant imagine a better educator, motivator & lead learner heading my child's high school. Jimmy embodies what is greta about leadership and a global PLN.

This team is meticulous about setting the table for ongoing educational reform conversation from week to week on Tuesdays at 12PM EDT & 7PM EDT. Recently, they began offering a weekly 10 minute podcast on #EdChat Radio to unpack the week's conversations. I use these audio feeds to reflect on my own practice on the car ride. I'm very cognizant and appreciative of the time and effort put into to helping students, teachers, parents and leaders on a daily basis. The #EdChat team has changed the way I see educational reform conversation in my school and around the world.

Dean teaches 5th grade at Knapp Elementary School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. He is a consistent teacher-leader, serves on multiple school-based committees, leads student council with another teacher and parent, as well as participates in a variety of in and outside of school activities throughout the school year. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dean in the role of an administrator someday soon - he has so much to offer students, teachers, leaders and parents.
