Tell us how he/she is making a difference:
Mrs. Flory is an exceptional instructor of courses required in the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education program and Master of Education in Elementary Education as evidenced by exceptional evaluations from her students. At the undergraduate level, she has taught methods courses in the language arts, science, social studies, as well as courses in educational assessment.

At the graduate level, Mrs. Flory has taught foundations and methods courses in the language arts, which involve intensive research in theories of language acquisition and reading instruction while including bilingual and bi-cultural considerations. These courses present authorities, philosophies, methodology, materials, and evaluations of children’s strengths and weaknesses in the decoding and comprehension processes. She has taught online and also enjoys her face to face courses.

Mrs. Flory has served as University Supervisor as they completed their 16-week student teaching requirement. She is capable of mentoring students from different ethnic cultures, socio-economic levels, and ages with tremendous success.

She currently is teaching education and reading courses for a number of Universities at both undergraduate and graduate levels. She is a current adjunct faculty member of Grand Canyon University, Ottawa University and Utah Valley University. She also has taught in the past at Arizona State University, Mesa Community College, Northern Arizona University.

My favorite course was Children’s Literature where we spent every spare moment reading books for children and analyzing the publishing industry. A personal and professional goal of hers is to publish a children’s book of her own and see her name on a shelf in a bookstore. She also works as a reading specialist, university supervisor for student teachers across the state of Utah and conference presenter.

When she was in the public schools, she taught inner city children in grades kindergarten, third, fifth for a number of years, and sixth grades, and was a reading specialist. She continues to utilize her reading specialist abilities to tutor kids after school who struggle in reading.

I am thankful to have been a student of Michelle Flory. I am impressed with her knowledge of reading and reading resources. This is one instructor whose teaching will touch generations of learners.
