John Norton Academy Nominee HotAbout NomineeName of Nominee: Nominees' website: Nominee's Organization MiddleWeb Nominators affiliation to nominee: colleague Tell us how he/she is making a difference: MiddleWeb,while a fantastic resource for middle school educators,is just one of many things John Norton has selflessly created to help educators succeed. He was the mind behind the Teacher Leaders Network (http://www.teacherleaders.org/), an organization that helps teachers become policy makers while remaining in the classroom. He went on to develop a strong community of practice with TLN and helped many teachers become teacher leaders (including myself) through that organization. John had significant input into the development of a think tank in Alabama (The Alabama Best Practices Center)http://www.bestpracticescenter.org/. He has helped 1000s of Alabama educators leverage blogging to tell their story while building leadership skills and visibility in others in the state. John regularly works behind the scenes developing writers through editing, coaching and nudging. He helps others to step out and launch their dreams. He works with Voices from the Learning Revolution bloggers to help them transparently share what they are learning with the world in such a way that the NY Times and Washington Post take note of their writing. http://plpnetwork.com/voices He also helps individuals who have a story to tell it through a new venture called Powerful Learning Press. http://plpnetwork.com/about-plpress/ Academy votes and reviews
