Tell us how he/she is making a difference:
Mr. Don Goble is an amazing and impactful educator. He is a leader in innovative, creative teaching and an expert on the subject of Media Literacy. As a Broadcast Technology, Film & Multimedia Instructor, for Ladue Horton Watkins High School in St Louis, MO Don reaches his students through the power of media and shares their talent through social media; thereby, connecting the classroom to the world. Don gives students a voice and makes that voice powerful by giving them an outlet to create a powerful and positive digital footprint. Don has been a Spotlight speaker at the METC conference and brings many of his students with him to provide media coverage for the event. This year they were able to interview Sir Ken Robinson. Among other accolades, he is an Apple Distinguished Educator and was awarded the 2011 Charles Klotzer Media Literacy Educator of the Year by the Gateway Media Literacy Partners. Don also is also a varsity baseball coach and yet still finds time to share his knowledge with other educators through various presentations and was gracious enough to keynote the 2012 Fall SPUN Conference for SET Connections (an organization that promotes an overall understanding of technology with an emphasis on special education). Don is a gracious and humble individual who deserves recognition as an exceptional educator.

About the Nominee

Brief Comments - What other facts should we know? ( MAX 500 characters)
I worked with Don Goble at the Apple Conference in 2011. I can't think of any educator who has inspired me more to become a better teacher and innovator in my high school classes. Don lead our digital video team at the conference - he not only had a clear vision for our work - but he was also a tireless worker when it came to the hours and hours of video editing that we did. Don was a great listener - most important he brought out the best in all of us. Following the conference, Don and I have kept in touch - he was one of the first guests on the iDig Video podcast that Jim Crawford and I do for EdReach. In teaching digital media in my classroom at Amity High School in Connecticut, I find myself constantly referencing Don's online posts as well as his website. He always makes time to work with other educators. If I had to put together a team of educators to work on or create a lesson plan, a district media blueprint or a presentation on an emerging technology - Don would be the first person I'd want to work with.

Don is an amazing educator and incredibly collaborative. I was with him at a summer institute and he was so selfless with his time, helping me with my learning needs over working on his own project (but he of course got both done). He is inspiring and an overall great guy!

Don is always willing to be helpful to his fellow educators. Although he had a game to coach immediately following his Keynote for the SET Connections SPUN Conference he freely gave of his Saturday morning to share his wisdom with educators. I am grateful to him for impacting educators every day and am proud to call him a colleague and a friend.
