Kim is with the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa. She holds a B.A. in Elementary Education/Emotional Disabilities and an M.S. in Learning Disabilities. In addition to her responsibilities at the lab school, Kim conducts field experiences for the university students, teaches a math class in southern Iowa, and does trainings in the Waterloo Schools. She has offered numerous presentations, secured grants, and has had her writings appear in many professional venues.

Dr. Peter DeWitt (Ed.D.) has been a principal in Upstate, NY since 2006. Prior to being a principal, he taught elementary school in several city schools for eleven years. Peter blogs at Finding Common Ground for Education Week. He is a freelance writer for Vanguard Magazine (SAANYS) and the International Center for Leadership in Education (ICLE) where he is also an educational consultant. Peter has presented at state and national conferences around the U.S.

Joe is a former Marine who realized he loved history and teaching and then enrolled at the University of Colorado at Boulder, where he earned degrees in history and political science. After teaching for a few years, he became an assistant principal, serving two different schools before becoming principal at Altona. Recently, the Colorado Association of School Executives chose Joe as its middle school principal of the year.

Marsha has been teaching at Westside since 1991. In 2009, she became a National Board Certified Teacher. National Board Certification is a prestigious teaching credential. Teachers who achieve National Board Certification have met rigorous standards through intensive study, expert evaluation, self-assessment and peer review. The process can take up to three years to complete. In 2010, Mrs. Herman completed her Master Educator License.
