Lisa Davis HotAbout NomineeName of Nominee: Nominees' website: Nominee's Organization Cantiague Elementary School Nominators affiliation to nominee: Colleague Tell us how he/she is making a difference: Lisa Davis’ resume includes serving as Co-President of Cantiague Elementary School for the last two years and several committees, including the Shared Decision Making Team (a team of building admin, teachers, parents and students that meet monthly to discuss school culture and activities), Joint PTA Council (members of all district PTA meet to discuss district-wide issues), Red Ribbon Week Committee, and she participated in the nomination process when Cantiague applied (and successfully became) a National Blue Ribbon school. Lisa’s efforts are genuinely for the students. With an open mind, she does her homework on so many issues that affect students’ education and then generously shares them out to families (most recently on the high stakes testing in NY). She is an active participant on Twitter and regular on #PTchat and #NYedchat. In supporting stronger home-school partnerships, together we write parentschoolpartners.wordpress.com and she made the trip from Long Island to the Philadelphia area to present at our #ParentCamp at Knapp Elementary. About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee? Lisa’s devotion and hard work are clearly visible to those with whom she works and in the results she achieves. What is not so visible is everything that happens to get those results. As Lisa’s husband, I see the hours of thought and planning that go into everything she does, and all while being a wonderful mother to 3 active children, and wonderful spouse to me. Our children benefit from everything Lisa does, and so do all the children in our community.

About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee? Lisa Davis is amazing! Being Cantiague Elementary School's co-president for the past two years has been a daunting task however, she has handled each activity, PTA meeting, and fund-raiser effortlessly and with such grace. I work in the main office and seeing her at school is always such a treat. It has been a pleasure having her at the helm of our school's PTA.

About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee? It has been my pleasure to work with Lisa on library projects. She is tireless, and does not know the meaning of the word no! I have also had the joy of being the librarian for her children, and all the hard work that that entails is obvious. I'm proud to cast my vote for her.

About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee? I have the honor of working with Lisa on a daily basis as she is one of the PTA Co-Presidents at Cantiague Elementary School. Lisa is an incredible individual who works tirelessly to ensure that she, in conjunction with her Co-President, and the parent community, can support any and all school-wide initiatives that are in the best interest of the children - ALL the children, not just her own! She is smart, funny, hard working, positive and innovative. She has used the PLN she has developed on Twitter as a way to better support our school community and help keep our families informed about topics that are relavent and current. She and I recently presented at #ParentCamp and hearing speak about our school, not only as a parent, but as an informed participant, made me really proud. She is also a critical member of our Shared Decision Making Team (a team made up of staff, kids, parents and administration) and was instrumental in helping us complete the application process for our Blue Ribbon nomination, which we were awarded in September of 2012. She, along with her Co-President and the enter PTA Board, are reliable and always willing to make themselves available if there is a need - no situation is too big or too small! In one word, Lisa is AWESOME and is much deserving of this nomination and award! |
What people are saying...
“This matters because it’s an organization that realizes that it takes a village. Education is a cooperative effort among a whole group of forces; it doesn’t happen unless everybody works together and so it’s really an honor to be singled out by a group like this.”
PBS News Hour, education reporter - John Merrow
