Angela Maeirs Academy Nominee New HotAbout NomineeName of Nominee: Nominees' website: Nominee's Organization Angela Maeirs Educational Services Nominators affiliation to nominee: Colleague Tell us how he/she is making a difference: Angela Maeirs approaches education from the 30,000 foot level. From there she draws a straight line to the heart, where she aims to release the potential of every child and educator with two simple words -- "you matter." Her approach is easy to dismiss as fluff or esteem building Kool-Aid, but her approach to bringing out the best in students has resonated with a global audience. Angela has persuaded 100s of schools to set aside a time weekly to allow kids to focus on their deepest passion and the enthusiasm for her program is accelerating. A veteran teacher and trainer, Angela knows that the heart needs to be engaged for the mind to deliver its best performance. However, what distinguishes Angela is that she is a doer. She's currently launching a national campaign called Choose2Matter that has arrested the imagination of educators across the nation and abroad. If one needs proof that Angela is on to something, the proof is reflected in her 100,000 plus Twitter followers. Academy votes and reviews

About the NomineeBrief Comments - What other facts should we know? ( MAX 500 characters) Angela is one of the most influential figures in education today. Her YOU MATTER movement is changing the world one person at a time. I have personally integrated her Habitudes into my Passion-Driven classroom, and her ideas have transformed not only the atmosphere in my classroom, but the level of achievement. I owe so much to the inspiration I have gained just by following Angela's lead. To call her friend, though, has been the greatest blessing yet! |
