Denise Pope is a rare Education School professor who cares deeply about pedagogy and teaching in an engaging and meaningful way. She cares deeply about her students and their learning. Additionally, her research on student engagement has had an invaluable impact on how educators think about both high performing and low performing students. Her book, Doing School, is a great example of high quality qualitative research that is applicable and meaningful for everyday instruction.
