What people are saying...
“I know that all of us can agree that great teachers have an amazing power to transform the lives of children every single day. But we also know these dedicated professionals can’t do it alone. They need the support of administrators, of parents, of community leaders and of the educators and para-professionals they teach alongside of in their buildings every single day.”
U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan

About the Nominee
Brief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee?
I have never seen someone so committed to their students with unwavering dedication, working weekends, and over 12-hour days. My hat is off to her! She is making a big difference in the future lives of her 67 students. She teaches 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders Writing and Science. The charter school does not have a library or any funding for sports. She has single handedly gathered books for the students to take home and read through library sales and donations. Kela goes the extra mile for her students and really cares about them individually, their scores, as well the future of Camelback Academy. She is an inspiration!

Beyond the fact that Gail excels at her job, she is an inspiration and a guide not only for the students she helps, also for the nurses she instructs and mentors. I have known her for 44 years. Through thick and thin, she always manages to keep a smile on her face and maintains a positive attitude. There should be more school nurses like her. She is a star!!
