About the Nominee
Brief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee?
I read that a Bammy Award intends to “recognize cross-discipline excellence in education, encourage collaboration and respect in and across the various domains, elevate education and education successes in the public eye, and raise the profile and voices of the many undervalued and unrecognized people who are making a difference in the field”.
If this is true, there is no more deserving candidate in the school business official category for this outstanding honor than Melody Douglas. Melody has worked tirelessly for years, seeking to elevate the professional stature of school business officials at the local, state and national level. Her efforts have made a difference and have served the educational field well.
As school business officials, we all face similar challenges given the state of education today. Melody’s “can do” attitude combined with her willingness to share her expertise, and common sense approach to problem solving and great sense of humor is a breath of fresh air.
I am delighted to add my voice to the chorus of admiration and respect expressed so well by my colleagues. Melody Douglas exemplifies the personal and professional qualities the Bammy Award seeks to celebrate.
She is an inspirational, intelligent and articulate leader, blazing a trail to higher achievement, while smoothing the path for those to follow in her footsteps. Thanks Melody!!

About the Nominee
Brief Comments - What other facts should we know about your nominee?
Melody Douglas is truly a school business official that deserves to be honored.
I came into school business from an investing background and had a lot to learn to get up to speed. Melody received me warmly and always took my phone calls. She spent a significant amount of time passing along industry advice and technical support. I know from speaking with many of my counterparts in the state that she was doing the same for many others as well.
She also served as an iconic leader in the Alaska Association of School Business Officials(ALASBO) helping to develop it into the recognized and well respected organization that is has become in the state of Alaska.
She managed to do all of this while shouldering all of the demands that go along with serving as the financial guide for one of the largest school districts in the state.
Melody's energy, wisdom, and passion make her the ideal candidtate to be recognized with an award such as this.
